In Shiur 012 (Sefiras Ha'Omer - Appreciating The Value of Time), we spoke about the ספירה as a catalyst for counting our time in life; we didn't give any thought to the אבילות that engulfs us during these days. We all know that it is connected somehow to תלמידי רבי עקיבא.

This shiur deals with the following questions:

1. Why are מנהגי הספירה not mentioned at all in the גמרא, but only much later?

2. How did this catastrophe happen to the תלמידים of רבי עקיבא , the master of ואהבת לרעך כמוך?

There are important lessons for us to learn, mainly in the way we judge others within our society.
